Using Insect to categorize People
The world is a huge place... with full of difference kinds of people... just like in the Insect Kingdom... In the Insect Kingdom, mosquitoes, houseflies, ants, bugs are everywhere... just like the people out there...
Sometimes, we could see really beautiful or ordinary butterflies just like some really talented, gifted or beautiful person... whom were borned with the beauty... be it internal or external...
Sometimes, we meet some really troublesome cockroaches, some may ignore us but some when we didn't even lay a finger on them, they still jump on us giving us the "goose bumps"... ^_^
And sometimes, we are face with the scary eight-legged spiders... wow...
They may seem like the bad guys out there but some really don't mean any harm to us... just like the so-called baddies out there... They may have done something wrong or they may have the evil look but some really are nice one... And yes, some are really evil... just like some really mean cockroaches, spiders, etc out there... but not all of them are bad..
Most of the people out there are in the houseflies category... or the mosquitoes group... or even the beezZZzzzies bee group...^_^
And the final question: Which categories are you in? ^_^
Have a nice day ahead, everyone...
Sincerely... Elfie

What Is Beautiful? A Brief Look Through History
Apr 08, 2009 | 4:33AM
In ancient China, the 4-inch "lotus foot" was considered a sign of perfect beauty. The practice of foot-binding, uncommonly seen today, involved breaking the bones of the forefoot and folding them forward, then tying the misshapen appendage to prohibit growth. Foot-binding caused severe pain, imbalance, and falls, and eventually osteoporosis, because afflicted women were unable to bear weight and ambulate correctly. Other consequences included hip and knee osteoarthritis, chronic pain, and even joint replacement surgery. Chinese foot binding was also a form of subjugation; as a class, women were even less able to take advantage of already limited educational and economic opportunities. For ancient Egyptians, Romans, and Persians, sparkling eyes were considered beautiful and they applied the heavy metal antimony to make their conjunctiva sparkle. A woman with a high forehead was considered beautiful during the Elizabethan era, and upper-class Elizabethan women plucked or shaved their frontal hairs to achieve this look. These women also covered their skin with ceruse (lead-based) makeup, which caused peripheral neuropathy, gout, anemia, chronic renal failure, and disfiguring scarring, requiring the application of more ceruse makeup. Chronic users, such as Queen Elizabeth I, acquired a misshapen appearance. Upset over her grisly visage, the Queen banished all mirrors from her castle. Her servants sometimes painted a red dot on her nose, an inside joke mocking her clown-like appearance. In the court of Louis XVI, noblewomen drew blue veins onto their necks and shoulders to emphasize their exalted status ("blue bloods"). In the 16th and 17th centuries, the wealthy used belladonna eye drops to dilate their pupils. Users acquired an "attractive" doe-like appearance, but they also risked retinal damage, glaucoma, and blindness. During the 18th century, vermilion rouge, concocted of sulphur and mercury, achieved popularity. Users lost teeth, suffered gingivitis, and (unknowingly) risked kidney and nervous system damage from mercury -- not to mention their having to deal with the unpleasant smell of sulphur. Corseting, popular from the 14th to 19th centuries, originally involved compressing the bosom and constricting the waist with tightly wound whalebone on a steel frame. Shallow breathing, combined with inadequate venous return, produced fainting and swooning. Hiatal hernias caused by overly tight corsets are termed "Sommerring's syndrome" -- after the 18th century physician who first warned of the dangers of tight lacing. Christina Larson points out, "the corset facilitated a pernicious association between physical beauty and virtue, as upright posture and a slender waist came to be regarded as evidence of discipline, modesty, rigor, and refinement. Ladies who abandoned their stays were scorned as both lazy and immoral." Ideal body weight and shape have fluctuated throughout history, from the rotund Venus of Willendorf of antiquity, to the statuesque, leggy flappers of the 1920s, to the ultra-thin "Twiggy"-inspired look of the 1960s and the "heroin chic" cachexia of the 1990s. In some cultures (eg, Hawaiian royalty), women voluntarily consumed or were force-fed excessive quantities of food to maintain their corpulence, a sign of fertility and power. At other times, women, including those with and without anorexia and bulimia, have dieted, induced vomiting, abused laxatives, and exercised excessively to lose weight. Famed opera singer Maria Callas deliberately infected herself with tapeworms to produce a malabsorption syndrome to maintain her lithe figure. Today, popular icons of beauty are found in music videos and on commercial television. Large bust size and round, but not excessively large, posteriors are emphasized, for example. To help the average woman achieve this look, a variety of products have become available, such as Wonderbra, which elevates and compresses the breasts, and the Brava bra, a $2500 suction device designed to be worn overnight for 10 weeks. Brava bra makers promise a 1-cup size increase; side effects include skin rash and discomfort. In the United Kingdom, women can buy "Wonder bum" panty hose, made of DuPont Lycra to mimic a "perfectly peachy, pert bottom." Thoroughly routing the idea of a woman-only "beauty myth" is the very real fact that men are a rapidly growing consumer niche in cosmetic surgery. They are getting procedures such as botulinum toxin injections and chemical peels, although they are not yet as willing to admit to their cosmetic habits as women are. One New York plastic surgeon told the Wall Street Journal that "17 percent of his patients undergoing eyelid surgery and about 11 percent choosing face lifts are male, double the percentage of ten years ago." According to the American Academy of Cosmetic Surgery, the most popular procedures for men are botulinum toxin injections, hair transplantation, chemical peels, microdermabrasion, and liposuction. But more than 10,000 men have also had cosmetic surgery to lengthen or widen their [censored]es, as well as calf and pectoral implants to upsize their musculature. ^_^ The End... ^_^

What Do You Do When the World Throws Dirt At You?
Mar 04, 2009 | 11:52PM
A story about a donkey and a hole.
Once there was a donkey that fell in to an old empty well. The farmer, who owns the donkey, looked at the beast and tried to figure how to get it out of there. Having thought of nothing to get the donkey out of the well, he decided to simply bury his donkey alive!
So the farmer called his neighbors to shovel dirt into the well. At first the donkey got frightened and panicked. After some time the beast realized that if he shakes the dirt of his back, the ground under him gets higher. He continued to shake the dirt off and step up until the well was full. I will leave to your imagination what the donkey did to the farmer and his neighbors when he got out of the well.
Many times we feel life is throwing dirt at us. Problems seem to hit us at all directions. Even when you feel everything is OK, suddenly dirt smacks you in the face. Sometimes you can even feel the bitterness of the dirt!
There are others who not only feel that dirt is being thrown at them, but feel that they are being buried alive. Their problems seem pile up from one to the next, until their problems are bigger than they are. They feel like all the world’s trash is being poured out on them.
But we can use this dirt.
We can use life’s problems and troubles to produce strength, wisdom, perseverance, patience and other virtues in us that will help us succeed in life. The dirt thrown at you can be use to increase your stature, your being.
We should imitate the donkey. Instead of giving up and letting himself be buried, he shook the dirt off him. We too should learn to shake our problems and step on it. And like the donkey we will get out of the hole we are in.
St. Thomas Aquinas describes wisdom as the view from the hill top. We can raise our hilltops with whatever life gives or throws at us. The good, bad and even the most painful experiences can be an opportunity for us to grow in wisdom and virtues.
With much dirt under your feet, you have a better view in life. And you will see that the view is awesome up there.
^_^ Never give up hopes on yourself... Live life to the fullest...
Sincerely...
Elfie

An old woman came into her doctor's office and confessed to an embarrassing problem. "I fart all the time, Doctor Johnson, but they're soundless, and they have no odor. In fact, since I've been here, I've farted no less than twenty times. What can I do?"
"Here's a prescription, Mrs. Harris. Take these pills three times a day for seven days and come back and see me in a week."
Next week an upset Mrs. Harris marched into Dr. Johnson's office. "Doctor, I don't know what was in those pills, but the problem is worse! I'm farting just as much, but now they smell terrible! What do you have to say for yourself?"
"Calm down, Mrs. Harris," said the doctor soothingly. "Now that we've fixed your sinuses, we'll work on your hearing..."

Life...
Feb 18, 2009 | 11:34PM
I've long asked myself this question... What's Life? At the age of ten, I've experienced the most painful experience in life... The most painful experience is not from a deep wound, nor a severe burn... neither any accidents at all but from being depart from your loved ones forever and ever... being never able to see them again... not able to feel their presence.... being not able to feel their touch... this unbearable pain hurts more than everything in life that I've experienced... as this pain haunts one forever... It could never be forgotten, only hidden deep in the heart... with no ending...
My beloved mama left me when I was ten... Mama had been diagnosed with cancer for four years and for the last six months, I was with mama alone every seconds of the day, spending and staying in the hospital hoping mama to get well... and it was before I turn ten... It was scary to stay in a hospital... Seeing death almost every day really scared me... Sorrow is the word to describe a hospital... It was there everyday... Becoming friend to/with a patient and being not able to see him/her the very next day really was scary and hurts so much..
I've no knowledge of anything at all as I was just a child... All I know was to pray days and nights... to massage every pain away from my mama... but nothing help... It hurts deep inside me... Mama... I loved you so much... Remember very clearly that very night... mama vomited lot of blood and left... Nurses were running here and there... All my sis and bros arrived and were crying... but I was numbed all over... For those hours, I was standing there... with no movement at all... nothing came out from my mouth... no tears... nothing... My heart was killing me... It really was... The pain was so deep that I can't breath at all... can't move... Mama... please don't leave me... please...please... I wanted to shout but nothing came out from my mouth...
The very next day, I was being thrown out to the street... With no reason at all... I was left with one bag of luggage to wander down the street... Remember very clearly... I was crying all day... and walking through days till I reached another town... After all these years, reality, truth faced up... I was being thrown out because of the will my beloved mama had left for me... I was left to wander out just when I turned ten... I'm the youngest in my family of 13...
I've struggled a lot all these years... really a lot... What's Life? There's nothing to complain about as there are zillions of life out there that have different stories to be heard... mine is just another sad one... All I could say is... I'm numb about Life... and... Life still has to go on... be it happy or sad...

When I was a child, my ambition was to be able to fly around... ^_^ flying here and there, helping people all over the world... when I grew older, this ambition seem to be impossible to be achieved... and it really made me feel really useless... Even with this power, I can't possibly help all people... because the world is just so huge with so many needy people around... Though there have been few celebrities/anonymous people who have been helping out, I know they can't possibly help everyone... but are they helping the right person/people out there? How about those that were forced to store their hurts/needs/feelings internally... they could only turn to their heart... their only friend, their only one companion... all inside their heart... It hurts so much if you could see the real needy people out there were left alone there to suffer... It really hurts so much deep inside me...
Orphan staying in orphanage and an orphan who has nowhere to stay... An orphan who don't even have a place to stay... someone who has nothing... no love, no parents, no family, nothing... no place that could let that orphan to be in safety... Isn't it hurt too much if no one realize that the one that needed help the most is the one who were left outside but not those that were in shelter...
If one wants to donate a particular thing, a piece of his/her heart, love... just about anything... be it money or a belonging... will one consider donating it to the orphanage or to those that were left out to suffer on their own... Will you have a piece of your heart for those whom were left wander out there to struggle alone... who has nothing... who needs love, help the most...
Will you donate to an orphan staying in an orphan or to the one who is left wander out there... who's afraid... struggling on her/his own...
Will you go out all the way to help people... If you are donating... be it money or belongings... or a listening heart, will you walk all the corners of the world... and look for someone who needs help without posting out loud "I'm helping out someone..." to the world... Helping someone doesn't need to be remembered... nor does it need to be praised... or be proud of... it doesn't need the world, public to know what you are doing... cos' it's all inside the heart... it's all about love... feelings... your ownself...
There was a time this one person who has been helping people... buying gifts... donating it to the people whom never were shown in the media... There was this day, this person walked by an orphanage that was known to the world.... This person walks into the orphanage... wanted to donate few bags of new lovely belongings that were bought... but was hurtfully rejected by the person in charge of the orphanage... The hurtful reply was... "Miss, we only accept donation of money from individual... and we accept donation of belongings from big organizations and firms..."
It hurts so much...

Life & Choices
Life is all about choices....choosing the "right" car, the dream house, your perfect job, the names of your children. We even choose our brand of coffee, shampoo and laundry detergent. Deliberate concentration is given to our choices in all areas of life...except health care. We allow "doctors" to make all the decisions concerning the MOST important aspect of our lives! WHY? The answer is simple really, we are an uninformed nation when it comes to health care, so we accept what the "experts" tell us. We take the pill, go under the knife, subject our bodies to radiation, chemotherapy and drugs that haven't been on the market long enough for the "experts" to know all of the side effects because we don't have knowledge of "other options".
One should be armed with the knowledge to explore other options... be it in health care or in other areas... The power should be put back into our hands. Make a healthy, worthy choice... ^_^ Take charge of our own life... Stay healthy and happy always...
Warmest Regards, ElfieFay

***Proper Food Combining***
Mar 02, 2008 | 11:46PM
Practice “Proper Food Combining” for a healthy digestive system.
Our bodies produce both an alkaline and an acid digestive juice according to which type of food it receives.
If you eat starchy food, your body requires an alkaline digestive juice. If you eat meat or condensed protein your body requires an acid digestive juice. Unfortunately these juices when mixed together neutralize each other. This is why it is not a good idea to mix proteins and starchy food together. By following simple food combining principals you will have much more energy and feel better.
When I speak of proteins I am referring to meats, poultry, fish, cheese, nuts, nut butters, soy proteins and anything that is considered to be a concentrated source of protein.
Starches are your potatoes, rice, grains, pasta, and breads.
It is common in our society to mix meat and potatoes, fish and rice, bread and cheese, peanut butter and toast and so on. These are very poor combinations and are unhealthy for your digestive system.
If you want to be friendly to your body start paying attention to proper food combining principals. This is a perfect opportunity to begin incorporating raw food into your diet.
Although it is best to eat fruit alone and never following a meal, you can eat raw salads and even lightly steamed veggies with either meats or with starches. So instead of having rice and fish you will want to have rice and a large mixed vegetable salad, or fish and a large vegetable salad. You can add a steamed vegetable to these combinations but try to really watch combining fruits, proteins and starches.
My motto for excellent health and wellness is: Happiness + Good Food... (",)
BestRegards... ElfieFay

Enjoyment doesn't need to be earned, only experienced. It's okay to flirt with the edge of acceptability as you seek new sources of pleasure. This kind of play is harmless as long as you have the sense to know where to draw the line.

Best Natural Cures to Lose Weight

Best Natural Cures to Lose Weight
Diet is everything. Ah... but you've heard that before! Well, we know for a fact that you will find great success in losing weight if you eliminate (to some degree) sugar, wheat, meat and carbohydrates from your diet. Interestingly, if you can stick to this regime for a few weeks, not only will you find yourself losing weight, but you will also have more consistent energy. You will also enjoy eating healthier foods. It's interesting -- remove the addictive, allergic substances and the body will start to let you know what it really wants. We love it! And I love it the most...
