Little Kid

Little kid  © copied

I want milk n cookies

And I want to believe in the toothfairy

 Because I feel old now

And I've lost the tingle of youth

 Because when you're my age,

You don't hear, You're it! often enough

And you don't see the faces in the clouds

And kooties have become AIDS.

And no matter how many bubbles I blow

The world isn't new anymore

And when I walk, one foot on the curb and one on the street,

Up down up down up, They look at me funny.

And I don't feel little anymore

And I don't feel santas bringing toys.

I want to play hide-and-go-seek again.

I want to chase the icecream man.

And I don't fear the monsters under my bed anymore

Because the real world scares me now

Whirling in the grass till we fell down laughing

Playing dress up in mom's clothes

Days when I didn’t know how to read a clock,

Walking barefoot in the grass.

Those days are gone now.

And I'll never feel little kid again

I feel old and grown up now.

I feel old.

FOR MY FRIENDS
Mar 24, 2007 | 4:42AM

Thank you for being there when I needed you...

and even when I didn't,

Thank you for being there through the good times...

 and the bad,

Thank you for being there to encourage my dreams....

and my crazy ideas,

Thank you for catching me...

 before I fell down,

Thank you for wiping away the tears...

when I was crying,

Thank you for cheering me up...

and making me laugh,

Thank you for all the great memories...

and the bad,

But most of all...

thank you...

For being you!

NEW PREAMBLE TO THE CONSTITUTION
Jun 22, 2006 | 8:34PM

NEW PREAMBLE TO THE CONSTITUTION "We the sensible people of the United States, in an attempt to help everyone get along, restore some semblance of justice, avoid more riots, keep our nation safe, promote positive behavior, and secure the blessings of debt-free liberty to ourselves and our great-great-great-grandchildren, hereby try one more time to ordain and establish some common sense guidelines for the terminally whiny, guilt ridden, delusional, and other Liberal bed-wetters. We hold these truths to be self evident: that a whole lot of people are confused by the Bill of Rights and are so dim they require a Bill of NON-Rights."

ARTICLE I: You do not have the right to a new car, big screen TV, or any other form of wealth. More power to you if you can legally acquire them, but No one is guaranteeing anything.

ARTICLE II: You do not have the right to never be offended. This country is Based on freedom, and that means freedom for everyone -- not just you! You may leave the room, turn the channel, express a different opinion, etc.; But the world is full of idiots, and probably always will be.

ARTICLE III: You do not have the right to be free from harm. If you stick a screwdriver in your eye, learn to be more careful, do not expect the tool Manufacturer to make you and all your relatives independently wealthy.

ARTICLE IV: You do not have the right to free food and housing. Americans are the most charitable people to be found, and will gladly help anyone in need, but we are quickly growing weary of subsidizing generation after generation of professional couch potatoes who achieve nothing more than the Creation of another generation of professional couch potatoes. (This one is my pet peeve...get an education and go to work . don't expect everyone else to take care of you!)

ARTICLE V: You do not have the right to free health care. That would be nice, but from the looks of public housing, we're just not interested in public health care.

ARTICLE VI: You do not have the right to physically harm other people. If you kidnap, rape, intentionally maim, or kill someone, don't be surprised if the rest of us want to see you fry in the electric chair.

ARTICLE VII: You do not have the right to the possessions of others. If you rob, cheat, or coerce away the goods or services of other citizens, don't be surprised if the rest of us get together and lock you away in a place where you still won't have the right to a big screen color TV or a life of leisure.

ARTICLE VIII: You do not have the right to a job. All of us sure want you to have a job, and will gladly help you along in hard times, but we expect you to take advantage of the opportunities of education and vocational training laid before you to make yourself useful. (AMEN!)

ARTICLE IX: You do not have the right to happiness. Being an American means that you have the right to PURSUE happiness, which by the way, is a lot easier if you are unencumbered by an over abundance of idiotic laws created by those of you who were confused by the Bill of Rights.

ARTICLE X: This is an English speaking country. We don't care where you are from, English is our language. Learn it or go back to wherever you came from! (lastly....)

ARTICLE XI: You do not have the right to change our country's history or heritage. This country was founded on the belief in God. And yet, you are given the freedom to believe in any religion, any faith, or no faith at all; with no fear of persecution. The phrase IN GOD WE TRUST is part of our heritage and history, and if you are uncomfortable with it, TOUGH!!!!

If you agree, share this with a friend. No, you don't have to, and nothing tragic will befall you if you don't. I just think it's about time common sense is allowed to flourish. Sensible people of the United States speak out because if you do not, who will?

Handy Tips

Handy Tips

Did You Know That? Drinking two glasses of Gatorade can relieve headache pain almost immediately -- without the unpleasant side
effects caused by traditional "pain relievers."

Did you know that Colgate toothpaste makes an excellent salve for burns.

Before you head to the drugstore for a high-priced inhaler filled with mysterious chemicals, try chewing on a couple of curiously
strong Altoids peppermints. They'll clear up your stuffed nose.

Achy muscles from a bout of the flu? Mix 1 Tablespoon of horseradish in 1 cup of olive oil. Let the mixture sit for 30 minutes, then apply it as a massage oil, for instant relief for aching muscles.

Sore throat? Just mix 1/4 cup of vinegar with 1/4 cup of honey and take 1 tablespoon six times a day. The vinegar kills the bacteria.

Cure urinary tract infections with Alka-Seltzer. Just dissolve two tablets in a glass of water and drink it at the onset of the symptoms. Alka-Seltzer begins eliminating urinary tract infections almost instantly -- even though the product was never been advertised for this use. (Note: Alka-Seltzer Plus Cold Medicine is not the same...and contains aspirin, which can cause stomach bleeding if you have ulcers.)

Honey remedy for skin blemishes... Cover the blemish with a dab of honey and place a Band-Aid over it. Honey kills the bacteria, keeps the skin sterile, and speeds healing. Works overnight.

Listerine therapy for toenail fungus... Get rid of unsightly toenail fungus by soaking your toes in Listerine mouthwash. The powerful
antiseptic leaves your toenails looking healthy again.

Easy eyeglass protection... To prevent the screws in eyeglasses from loosening, apply a small drop of Maybelline Crystal Clear nail polish to the threads of the screws before tightening them.

Coca-Cola cure for rust... Forget those expensive rust removers. Just saturate an abrasive sponge with Coca Cola and scrub the rust stain. The phosphoric acid in the coke is what gets the job done.

Cleaning liquid that doubles as bug killer... If menacing bees, wasps, hornets, or yellow jackets get in your home and you can't find
the insecticide, try a spray of Formula 409. Insects drop to the ground instantly.

Smart splinter remover...just pour a drop of Elmer's Glue-All over the splinter, let dry, and peel the dried glue off the skin. The splinter sticks to the dried glue.

Hunt's tomato paste boil cure...cover the boil with Hunt's tomato paste as a compress. The acids from the tomatoes soothe the pain and
bring the boil to a head.

Balm for broken blisters...To disinfect a broken blister, dab on a few drops of Listerine .a powerful antiseptic.

Heinz vinegar to heal bruises... Soak a cotton ball in white vinegar and apply it to the bruise for 1 hour. The vinegar reduces the
blueness and speeds up the healing process.

Kills fleas instantly. Dawn dish washing liquid does the trick. Add a few drops to your dog's bath and shampoo the animal thoroughly. Rinse well to avoid skin irritations. Goodbye fleas.

Rainy day cure for dog odor... Next time your dog comes in from the rain, simply wipe down the animal with Bounce or any dryer sheet,
instantly making your dog smell springtime fresh.

Eliminate ear mites... All it takes is a few drops of Wesson corn oil in your cat's ear. Massage it in, then clean with a cotton ball. Repeat daily for 3 days. The oil soothes the cat's skin, smothers the mites, and accelerates healing.

Quaker Oats for fast pain relief...It's not for breakfast anymore! Mix 2 cups of Quaker Oat s and 1 cup of water in a bowl and warm in
the microwave for 1 minute, cool slightly, and apply the mixture to your hands for soothing relief from arthritis pain.

Faith
Mar 15, 2006 | 6:26AM

Some may say the pain of birth is the worse to  bare.

But it is soon forgotten with the love you share.

Yes the pain is forgotten as you watch your child grow.

But the pain of giving a child up many do not know.

It is not a pain you forget ever

The emptiness leaves you never.

But you learn to bear your grief

And in God's faith find relief.

Knowing as night changes to day

God will help you along the way.

No matter where  each day you go

If you ask the Lord, He too, will go

This I know.

Death of A Son
Feb 14, 2006 | 11:21AM

for Sandra

Oh wouldn't it be great to see his happy face

To hold him in a warm and loving embrace

To say again "Be good my son"

And to laugh about what he has done

To tell him to wash his face

And bow his head during grace.

To remind him to wipe his feet

And be kind to those he might meet

Not to stay out too late on Friday night

And always do what he thinks is right.

To say again, "I love you son".

But we cannot undo what has been done

There is some comfort in knowing-----

Your son waits for you in a special place.

He watches over you with his smiling face

He'll be near you each and every day

Wherever you go, he'll follow you along the way

For you shall never be apart

You'll always hold him in your heart.

Poems when my nephew was accidently killed on a hunting trip
Jan 30, 2006 | 6:57AM

Death

Death has called and you were ready

leaving behind sister, brothers, mother and daddy.

Can we take the heart broken pain,

We wonder as our tears fall like heavy rain.

But shouldn't we look up in joy

for having known such a wonderful boy.

Kenny

He answered when Jesus made his call

Kenny, full of love and laughter

He shared his life with all

And will be remembered ever after.

A Loving Embrace

Today I held my teenagers in my arms

and I thought of life's unexpected harms

As I whispered"I love you"

I knew the words were over due.

And as I stood there so unsteady

I saw other teens reach out for mother and daddy

and I knew as they held them in this embrace of love

It happened because kenny was called to his home above.

Forgiveness

Oh how I pray

night and day

that you'll forgive me

of what I have done.

It was my finger

that pulled the trigger

and took the life

 of your son.

Forever I will hear that boom

and then that final cry

Oh how I wish

it had been me to die

Your son was a friend

and a part of our family

As brothers was our love

and this I'll never deny

Please do not hate me

for what I have done

for I also suffer

the loss of your son.

Wintertime
Dec 15, 2005 | 4:38AM

Wintertime

The sky is gray,

the air is cold.

I wish it were May

and I could see in bloom a marigold.

The weatherman said snow,

maybe an inch or two.

To Hawaii I want to go

to lay in the sun and water, too.

The heat is turned up

and I 'm  as bundled up as can be.

Oh, how I'd love to put down this coffee cup

and sail away on the sea.

This cold I do not care about,

I freeze and shake and chatter .

I want warm weather to let me out,

any where it really doesn't matter.

If I make it through this wintertime

of ice and snow and freezing rain

I'll laugh and sing a joyous rhyme

and forget my aches and pains.

A Message From Grandpa By: ew
Oct 31, 2005 | 6:59PM

My body is tired and old.

Little do these eyes see

I strain to hear what is told

But each day is dear to me.

Each day that I live

Is for the Lord I love

Everyday that He does give

I give my thanks above.

This life to me is a blessing

And I do not question the Lord's ways

Just you remember:

   If you are truly confessing

And praising the Lord all your days

   Living your life right

Letting Him guide you in all you do

He'll watch over you day and night

And an everlasting life awaits you.

My Grandaddy
Oct 31, 2005 | 6:46PM

I remember you sitting by the glowing fire

And I, a little girl, combing your hair to my hearts desire.

Of you in the field with the old mule

And a little girl waving on her way home from school.

A little girl riding to town in the back of your pickup truck

Knowing when you spit your snuff, she'd better duck.

A little girl listening to scarry tales of bobcats

And prowling things of the night

When she stayed too long and had to walk

Home in the fading evening light

Of you dozing on the hammock in the shade

And the temptation to flip you, you really made.

Being there helping me grow strong

And making memories for me to carry along

And the best memory of you

Is the love we shared so true.
