Hi to all my Grab friends.

For those of you that thought I may have dropped off the Earth... I didn't . I am sure everyone has heard about the floods in Texas. Well I was in the one june 18 th at Haltom City , Tx.. Got woke up at 3:20 in the Am to see one of my sheds float by. Definitely not a good way to wake up. All I could say was OMG Ron wakeup, flood. Then survival kicked in when water started coming into the house. It quickly climbed up to my knees & then the lights went out.

If anyone saw (on the news or internet) the blue expedition on a little white car, the expedition was ours. I understand that even my interview with a local channel made it to a feed to CNN. What do  you know, I get 5 minutes of fame & I didn't even get to see it. According to my friends , I didn't embarrass myself... thats a relief.

Well to the damage.    We lost the car, motorcycle, trailer, 3 sheds, mobile home & most the contents.

When the water started to recede we went outside & saw  that 4 doors down A gas line had been snapped off.  You caould see & smell it. All I could think was great , now we are going to get blown up .

Thanks to the Lord, we got out safely with all 3 dogs & 2 birds.

I hope I am not offline for too long. I miss all my good friends on grab.

Hi, fellow grabbers

Since  April has been such a fun month, I thought I would chronocle it.

April 3 ... We had a flash flood . Our mobile home was surrounded with 10-12 inches of     

                of flood waters & one of  our sheds  got alot in it too.

April 13 ...  Tornado scare & got beat up with baseball size hail. Our roof was totaled & shed 

                    that had flooded got really banged up.  Also our car windshield took a hit & had to  

                    be  replaced. When the glass company came out they put a long scratch on the 

                    side of our car & then said it looked like we drove to close to a tree & the tree

                    scratched it. I don't know where he comes from, but  I have never heard of a tree

                    that could scratch glass.

April 24 ...  Had another tornado scare & lots more rain. this time we just lost power for 

                    several hours during the day & again during the night.                     

 April 26...  No storms today but still a lot of fun.

                  A Large travel trailer snagged a wire that crossed over the road. It was attached to a 

                  power pole that sits about 5 foot from the end of my home  . It pulled it partially out 

                 of the ground & it  had a split that ran upwards around 10 foot. the fireman said the 

                 only thing keeping it off my home was a tree. ( Thank the Lord for trees ) I came out 

                 and had 2 wires on my trailer . 1 running lengthwise & 1  width wise.  Since  I 

                 smelled smoke I grabbed the 2 big carriers & got them on the ground. I put the dogs

                in  and started back in for my cockatiel & parakeet. As I started to step up on steps, I

                 heard this very loud STOP, don't  touch anything . I tried to explain that I had to get   

                my  birds & that I had been in & out 2 times allready. He said couldn't take anymore 

                 chances because I might touch the wrong thing. Then I got to stand out in the yard 

                while dusk fell & the bugs came out to feast on me. See, since my yard is fenced, I 

                 was stuck there. Finally a fireman who was well insulated came up & got the gates 

                 opened. Then more waiting with neighbors. We watched a tree limb smoke & then 

                 burst  into flames. Again (Thank the Lord for all the rain we have had). Since it was 

                 electrical, the firemen had to wait  for the power company to get out here & turn off   

                 the power.  Believe me, They move faster when they come out to shut it off for non-

                 payment. I finally got to come back inside  & gotta give electric company  credit .

                 They  worked until 3:45 A.M. to erect a new pole & get power back on.

                 Remember the song that says April showers bring May flowers? Well, I have

                 definitely had plenty of showers so  monday May 1 st , I will be  ready for plenty of

                 flowers. 

                 I keep telling myself that it could be a whole lot worse. We may have had to pay 

                 several deductibles, but the lord has kept us safe & sound.
