Rights

What are the most important rights every person should have?

This is not an easy topic at all - I am Canadian, therefore I believe that our Charter of Rights is different that in the USA. I will anyway try to be objective (hard for me to do).

Freedom of Speech, religion, mouvement within and outise my country with proper ID. To vote for my representative in the House of Commons, Provincial government & Municipal government.

The right to protest - without violence and with documents to prove that we have this right. The right to work to earn a decent living environment. Right to a clean environment. The powers that be should consult citizens when a huge project is planned; is it for best for all  without hurting the livelyhood of citizens in the targetted area?

In my Country I find that we are too lax - if a new Canadian wants to be a soldier, RCMP, attend a public school, the uniform that goes with this occupation, if this this work/career/ has in place rules and regulations these should be followed by new Canadians. If the new Canadians, find that a rule or unfiform places her/him doing something against his/her religion, they have the freedom to find a career in other spheres. Sometimes I think that the rights of the individuals are surpassed by the riights of our Nation as a whole.

OK.........folks......That's about it for now - Enough already. Paloma :Smiley  Dreaming in technicolour.
