Piddlin Pete

PIDDLIN' PETE
by
Leslie Sarony

A famous dog once came to town
Known to his friends as Pete
His pedigree was ten yards long
His looks were hard to beat

And as he trotted down the road
'twas beautiful to see
His work at every corner
Every post and every tree

He never missed a land mark
He never missed a post
For piddling was his masterpiece
And piddling pleased him most

The city dogs stood looking on
In deep and jealous rage
To see this little country dog
The piddler of his age

They smelt his efforts one by one
They smelt him two by two
But noble Pete in high disdain
Stood still 'til they were through

Then when they'd smelt him everywhere
The praise for him ran high
But when one smelt him underneath
Pete piddled in his eye

Just then to show these city dogs
He didn't care a damn
He strolled into the grocers shop
And piddled on the ham

He piddled on the cornflakes
He piddled on the floor
And when the grocer threw him out
He piddled up the door

Behind him all the city dogs
Debated what to do
They'd hold a piddling carnival
The hoop they'd put him through

They showed him all the piddling posts
They knew about the town
And off they set with many a wink
To wear the stranger down

But Pete was with them all the way
With vigour and with vim
A thousand piddles more or less
Were all the same to him

And on and on went noble Pete
As tireless as a windmill
And very soon those city dogs
Were piddled to a standstill

Then Pete an exhibition gave
Of all the ways to piddle
With double drips and fancy flips
And now and then a dribble

The city dogs said farewell Pete
Your piddling did defeat us
But no one ever put them wise
That Pete... he had diabetes.

GIRLS IN MY CIRCLE

When I was little, I used to believe in the concept of one best friend, and then I started to become a woman.

And then I found out that if you allow your heart to open up, God would show you the best in many friends.

One friend is needed when you're going through things with your man. Another friend is needed when you're going through things with your mom. Another will sit beside you in the bleachers as you delight in your children and their activities. Another when you want to shop, share, heal, hurt, joke, or just be.

One friend will say, "Let's cry together," another, "Let's fight together," another, "Let's walk away together." One friend will meet your spiritual need, another your shoe fetish, another your love for movies, another will be with you in your season of confusion, another will be your clarifier, another the wind beneath your wings.

But whatever their assignment in your life, on whatever the occasion, on whatever the day, or wherever you need them to meet you with their gym shoes on and hair pulled back, or to hold you back from making a complete fool of yourself .. those are your best friends. It may all be wrapped up in one woman, but for many, it's wrapped up in several.. one from 7th grade, one from high school, several from the college years, a couple from old jobs, on some days your mother, on some days your neighbor, on others, your sisters, and on some days, your daughters. So whether they've been your friend for 20 minutes or 20 years,

Thank you for all my grab friends....those I meet and keep contact with, those who pass through my life, and those I will keep in my heart and spirit forever.  Any this is not just dedicated to female friends.......love you all.....Twiz

Someone Prayed for me

Someone Prayed For Me

My spirit was almost broken; Misery was all I could see,

But, somehow, I was encouraged, Because someone prayed for me.

The problem I faced seemed like mountains, Or at least a pounding sea.

I could have easily been destroyed by them, But today someone prayed for me.

I even contemplated death An escape for my misery, But instead I chose to carry on-- Because today someone prayed for me.

Someone prayed for me today, Giving me strength to see it through,

I may never know who it was, But perhaps it was you.

You may feel like prayers are wasted, The results you may never see,

But my life is much richer Because today someone prayed for me.

This will make you laugh!

Two elderly women were out driving in a large car. Both could barely see over the dashboard. As they were cruising along, they came to an intersection. The stoplight was red but they just went on through.

The woman in the passenger seat thought to herself, "I must be losing it. I could have sworn we drove thru it." They drove a few more minutes they came to another intersection, the light was red, and again they went right through.

This time, the passenger was almost sure that the light had been red, but was also concerned that she might be seeing things. She was getting nervous and decided to pay very close attention. At the next intersection, sure enough, the light was definitely red and they blew right through it.

She turned to the other woman and said, "Mildred! Did you know that you ran through three red lights in a row? You could have killed us!" Mildred turned to her and said, "Oh nuts! Am I driving?

Ode to the Narrow-minded

So you say you love god
and everyday you read his book
but have you ever taken a second
to take a good look
at the people around you
who believe in the same
but they live it
not read it
so you think they are strange.
I've read your book
I've heard your preachers scream
and I can tell you my dear
you live in a dream
you listen to man
and not to your heart
your faith based on words
will soon be torn apart.
don't look at me strange
when I say I'm a Witch
because if you knew what I knew
you're beliefs just might switch.
You cling to Jesus
for he died for your sins
he died for mine too
but that's just where it begins
I don't rule out
that God has come to earth
I don't rule out
that he came by his birth
but perhaps this God
about whom the stories are told
is the same god
to which my beliefs hold.
You call a woman named Mary
the Mother of God.
I call his mother the Goddess
now is that so odd?
My beliefs and yours
are not quite far apart
we just have different names
for the faith in our heart
There truly is not
wrong or right
I know the great one hears me
when I pray at night
whether he or she
whether one or three
I know my creator
truly loves me.
I have not judged you
so do not judge me
in time my dear
perhaps you shall see...
that its not important
the faith you choose to be
its important you have faith
In the God that there be.

Two Horses

Read this on the boards today and would like to share it with everyone

Two Horses

Just up the road from my home is a field, with two horses in it.

From a distance, each looks like every other horse.
But if you stop your car, or are walking by, you will notice something quite amazing.

Looking into the eyes of one horse will disclose that he is blind.

His owner has chosen not to have him put down, but has made a good home for him.
This alone is amazing.

If nearby and listening,
you will hear the sound of a bell.
Looking around for the source of the sound, you will see that it comes from the smaller horse in the field.

Attached to her halter is a small bell.
It lets her blind friend know where she is, so he can follow her.

As you stand and watch these two friends, you'll see how she is always checking on him, and that he will listen for her bell and then slowly walk to where she is, trusting that she will not lead him astray. When she returns to the shelter of the barn each evening, she stops occasionally and looks back, making sure her friend isn't too far behind to hear the bell.

Like the owners of these two horses,
God does not throw us away just because we are not perfect or because we have problems or challenges. He watches over us and even brings others into our lives to help us when we are in need.

Sometimes we are the blind horse being guided by the little ringing bell of those who God places in our lives.
Other times we are the guide horse, helping others see.

Good friends are like this .........
You don't always see them,
but you know they are always there.

Please listen for my bell and I'll listen for yours.

"Be kinder than necessary,
for everyone you meet is
fighting some kind of battle".

Its Father's Day again
Jun 16, 2007 | 8:26AM

A guy he once lived, his name Ronnie Brown, he was always laughing, I never seen him frown.  A Family man, husband, dad and friend.  Once in his heart, you were there till the end.

His younger days spent as as biker - its true!  With 'wheelies, and 'streaks' and country scrambling - I swear its true!

His humour its said was famous you know, at parties and such he drew laughter and smiles. These nights were a legend and folks came from miles!

His working life was spend collecting money from folk, insurance and pensions and they paid even when broke!  His cheery face and happy nature was loved by all - I used to help him when I was small.

His pride in he grandkids was plain for to see.  I know though his greatest pride was in me!

Great grandkids came but his health was not good, he couldnt enjoy them the way that he should.

But he tried his best, with a smile and a wave, all the love that he had to us that man gave.

He was the best, above all by far - my DAD, my HERO, up in the sky, now a STAR!

Happy Father's Day to my Darling Dad, only a whisper away. I love you Dad, wait for me.

In My Next Life!
Jun 08, 2007 | 2:47AM

In this life I'm as woman - In my next life I'd like to come back as a bear.  When your a bear, you get to hibernate.  You do nothing but sleep for six months - I could deal with that!

Before  you hibernate, you're supposed to eat yourself stupid.  I could deal with that too!

When you're a girl bear, you birth your children (who are the size of walnuts), while your sleeping and wake up to partially grown, cute, cuddly cubs.  I could definately deal with that!

I'f your a mama bear, everyone knows you mean business.  You swat anyone who bothers your cubs.  If your cubs get out of line, you can swat them too.  I could deal with that!

If your a bear, your mate EXPECTS you to wake up growling.  He EXPECTS that you will have hairy legs and excess body fat.

Yep, gonna be a bear!

The Two Wolves
Jun 03, 2007 | 1:45AM

I found this today and would like to share it.

One day, an old Cherokee sat down with his grandson and told him about the battle that wasgoing on inside himself.

He said, "My son, it is between 2 wolves. One is evil: Anger, envy, sorrow, regret, greed, arrogance, self-pity, guilt, resentment, inferiority, lies, false pride, superiority and ego... The other is good: Joy, peace, love, hope, serenity, humility, kindness, benevolence, empathy, generosity, truth, compassion and faith..." The grandson thought about it for a minute and then asked his grandfather, "Which wolf wins?"

The old Cherokee simply replied, "The one I feed."
