The prayer of a Friend
Darkness and pain swirl around me
They press in on me
Their heaviness covers me
Peace evaporates
Joy cannot be found
How do I keep from drowning?
In the endless pool of emptiness
What reason do I have for living?
Then the prayer of a friend
Slices through the darkness
I hear a whisper, "Come to me,
You who are weary and burdened
And I will give you rest"
I step toward the voice
That softly glows
I am drawn to HIM
The Son is revealed
And joy and peace return
And the darkness and pain
Vanish once again
