House On The Rock (Visit 2)
Jun 24, 2008 | 10:09AM

Yesterday, my mother's friend took her kid, my mom and I to the House On The Rock in Spring Green, Wisconsin. One thing we saw on the way was areas flooded. Spring Green got hit hard. Water was up to people's basement on many houses, and their entire yard in water. It was bad. Driving there past Wisconsin Dells, when we went over a bridge with Lake Delton on both sides, it was completely empty. Literally. The entire lake drained, leaving nothing but dead fish and sand behind.

You may have already read my post from last year about going to The House On The Rock. It was nice to go with someone else and have time to look at the stuff. The attraction has 3 self-guided tours of Alex Jordan Jr.'s collections and some from others. The first part of the tour takes you into his home. Alex had passed away in 1989. One thing that will stand out in tour 2 is a 200 ft. hand-built shark. A ramp takes up to see the top, as well as any collectibles along the way to see the mouth of the shark. A boat is inside the mouth.

We stopped for Ice Cream there. The prices of all the food is over priced, but the ice cream was worth it. This lady working there gave us each 2 scoops of any flavor for the price of a single. I had mine in a waffle cone. It was very good.

One of the biggest attraction is the world's largest carousel. It has over 20,000 lights, and 269 hand-crafted animals, not one is a horse. Another popular attraction is the Infinity Room. Walk as far as you can. If you keep looking forward, the room looks as it goes on and on. Near the end, the floor feels like it's moving a bit. The room is not at ground level. It was quite a ways up from the ground. You can see a good view of the area from looking out one of 300 windows.

After our visit, we stopped in Reedsburg at a Pizza Ranch. The food was very good. We got there just before the buffet opened, so everything was fresh. They have breaded chicken, corn, mac & cheese, mashed potatoes, pizza of course, and the awesome Cactus Bread. A pizza shaped desert with apple crumb and vanilla icing. The beverages are $1 extra, but you can get as many refills as you like. The soda, iced tea, and coffee is all self serve. The only thing I don't like is they have all Coke products. I hate Coke, so I just drank plain iced tea with lemon juice.
