An army has invaded El Segundo. Extreme Makeover - Home Edition is remodeling a home at the corner of Holly and Washington. Here's a
Satellite Map of the Extreme Makeover House
This is a shot of the map with all of the area that they have taken over and closed off. There is a public viewing area so you can watch, but they have taken over two full blocks of street and half the park behind the house. It's like a military zone. The house is in Blue and the closed area is Red.
Here's the front of the house. It's lit up like daylight in this whole area. These photos were taken about 11pm on Saturday night. They are working 24/7 to make this happen in time.
This is across the street. Stay behind the railings. There is a small grand stands over there.
The guards were very nice, but they do carry guns. Please do what they ask.
Here's the view from the far, north end of the park. They have this entire area closed off. There are areas for the workers to eat, to assembly, to get supplies, and whatever else they need to do. The house they are working on is in the distance, where the large light is behind the tree.
This is the wood shop. It's under a canopy with camo netting blocking the side view so people don't slow when they drive by. I wish I had half they stuff they have here.
Looking down the street to the north. The house is on the right. That stand of lights on the right in this photo is the same one that is in the first photo of the house. The railing is the same as the railing on the far side of the street in the second photo, behind the guard.
I heard that the big reveal is on Tuesday at 1:30pm. I'm not sure of that, but it might be fun to be there then.
Here's a bonus photo of me in front of the house while they are working on it. At one point, I walked across the street were I wasn't supposed. I was supposed to go down to the end of the block and cross. I didn't. My wife was looking for me, so she asked a guard "Have you seen my husband". He told her "Yeah. He's over there. The big guy with the hair, right?". I was so proud. I'm known as "the big guy with the hair".
