The oldest thing I own is... a Smith & Wesson Revolver With the Holster. I do not know what caliber it is.  

It's about (how many) years old.  Hummmm...Good question cause really don't know how old it is exactlly, but I do know it is over 65 years old atleast.

I originally got it... from my Aunt as a family heirloom, as it belonged to my Grandfather(my mother's father). The story behind it is this....It is said that at one time my Grandfather was a guard on a chain-gang in the Florida Everglades. They say he was very well liked by all and that he got along well with the inmates, and he told them up front that if they were good to him he could make there stay very pleasent, that it was all up to them. They say he was not quick to anger, and would only use his gun if absolutely nessiary, and that he was an excellent shot. It is said that one day when he had a gang out on the road(known as alligator alley) one of the inmates took off running, and tried to escape. They say my Grandfather, raised his gun in the air, and shouted the warning "Stop or I'll shoot", well needless to say the inmate did not stop, and they say my Grandfather shot the inmates ear off, and the inmate knowing my Grand father very well knew that the next one would be deadly, so he stopped. They said he never shot to kill a man if he didn't have to. The gun I have is the gun my Grandfather used. I have always thought this was a pretty good, and interesting family story.
