YAB
Nov 28, 2005 | 10:58AM
"YAB?" you cry. "YAB?" you exclaim. "What does YAB stand for, Lex?!" you shout.
I hear you. If you waited a sec before interrupting this blog post, I would have told you already!
YAB stands for "Yet Another Blog." As in, I have one. And it's sports-related!
See, our friends over at FOXSports.com have introduced FOX Sports Blogs, and I've created a blog devoted to my favorite football team, the Philadelphia Eagles. Check it totally out!

I can do whatever I want.
Nov 28, 2005 | 9:11AM
I just had not Writer's Block, but rather... Writer's Avalanche. I wanted to blog about TOO MANY things at once.
First, I wanted to blog about the amazing vacation my wife and I just took in Palm Springs. So relaxing. So beautiful. So fun. And that's just Lauren! But seriously... our trip included the Palm Springs Zoo & Desert Museum, a tram ride up nearly 8,000 feet to the top of a mountain, and a brief visit with relatives who were staying in a massive home once rented by Elvis.
I also wanted to blog about how today is my birthday, and isn't that grand, and boy am I old, and I love presents, and blah blah blah. But my Grab inbox is already overflowing with birthday wishes, and I don't want to stoke that fire any more!
And, before Thanksgiving, I was hoping to blog a list of 50 things I'm thankful for. But I forgot to do it, because the day before Thanksgiving was a short work day and -- of course -- the start of vacation time. Maybe next year.
For the time being, I'm going to get some work done.

Just in case...
Oct 11, 2005 | 1:26PM
In case any of you read my blog here and don't read Deuce's, I wouldn't want you to miss this post, which I consider his funniest blog post -- and perhaps story -- ever.

Get "Lost"
Oct 09, 2005 | 2:34PM
I have too much to say about Lost, and I don't want to stink up my Grab blog with all my theorizing on television's best drama.
So, I've created LostTalk.info.
It's got, of course, The Lost Blog, as well as Lost Message Boards.
Check it out! If you're into that sort of thing. And let me know what you think!

My lovely wife LaurenPretzel
Sep 15, 2005 | 10:40PM
...cracks me, and herself up.
She is sitting beside me, with her laptop atop her lap, laughing and just generally enjoying herself as she reads...
... her very own blog.
She's cute.

Sep 14, 2005 | 3:38PM
Just wanted to share this little-known photo of Grab CL HellyKwee canoodling with our very own Wemmick (who, in this picture, is dressed up as a disgrunteld postal employee).

Helly, has your husband seen this??!!

10 Things You Didn't Know About Lex
Sep 08, 2005 | 7:40PM
Mmm, I love memes :) If only Grab had a way to make blogging on meme-like common topics even easier! Oh, that's a topic for another day. Anyway, after HellyKwee and others did it, it's high time for me to blog on the topic:
10 Things You Don't Know About Me!
1. I can recite the fifty United States in alphabetical order, from memory, in under fifteen seconds. (I can do so into a tape recorder that will play back the states being articulated successfully when heard at slower speeds.)
2. I went to magic camp for years, studying sleight of hand. My favorite magicians are Penn & Teller.
3. I interviewed "Weird Al" Yankovic when I was 16-years-old, at a concert in Hershey, Pennsylvania. Two years later, I went backstage at a Weird Al concert outside Boston. Al saw me and said: "Lex Friedman, Hershey Pennsylvania!"
4. I once sang on CBS's "The Early Show" on national TV. At 6:30 in the morning.
5. I have a total of 643 MP3's by either They Might Be Giants or Weird Al. Every single one of them is legal.
6. I am colorblind.
7. I wrote five postcards a week to Jay Leno, trying to get a job writing for his show, for one semester while in college. After three months, I got a call from the head of his writing staff, telling me that there was never any turnover because his writers had been with him since day one.
8. My full name is Alexander Curtis Friedman.
9. Until this year, I ate no fruits or vegetables with the following exceptions: Apples, bananas, corn on the cob, artichoke leaves (not hearts), and French Fries. This year, I have expanded my palette -- or, at least, am working on doing so -- to include lettuce, carrots, oranges, tangerines, grapes, strawberries, blueberries, blackberries, cherries, tomatoes, string beans, plums, potatoes, and more.
10. I write oodles of songs for the keyboard, music and lyrics, and sing them only for myself, my dog, and my wife.
11. One of the above ten items is a blatant lie.

In-Laws, Photo Albums, and More.
Sep 02, 2005 | 8:05AM
My blogging has been lacking for the past 3+ days, and for that I apologize. Do I have any excuses? You betcha!
In-Laws. My parents-in-law, sister-in-law, and brother-in-law are all in LA at the moment. We're very law-abiding. Yesterday, we went to the Warner Brothers VIP Studio Tour, which was actually surprisingly cool, particularly if you are a fan of Gilmore Girls and ER, which I happen to be. We saw Luka filming a scene playing basketball with the kid (who apparently comes back), and walked all over Star's Hollow. I am a television addict.
Photo Albums. You saw that we introduced Photo Albums earlier this week. Not to mention the public launch of Grab Blogs. Plus the oodles of other cool features we're working on behind the scenes. When you love your job, it's not really "working," so I've been working kinda non-stop. At home, at work. In the morning, in the evening. True story: On a typical workday, I wake up, check my work email, check the site, check the boards, send some emails, get ready for work, go to work, work work work, go home, check my work email, check the site, check the boards, eat dinner, turn on the TV, check my work email, check the site, check the boards, and go to sleep. I have to fit blogging into that schedule :)

70 blogs and counting
Aug 13, 2005 | 9:01AM
So far, Gold members have created more than 70 blogs. I just got through reading nearly all of them! Whew!
Now, currently, I have something like three and a half blogs myself. There is, of course, this one -- my Grab blog. Then there's The Lex Files and the rarely-updated collaboration Leth & Sex that I write with my friend Seth.
And then I happen to be an occasional contributor to the Official Grab Blog as well.
I guess now I have to figure out which posts go where?
