easter break
Mar 19, 2007 | 3:23PM

for my easter break ill be visiting a friend and going to view a castle ! lol details below

Derbyshire Country Houses

Bolsover Castle

Bolsover Castle was originally built by the Peverel family in the 12th century but after years of neglect was purchased by Sir George Talbot in 1553. Talbot, later becoming the 6th Earl of Shrewsbury is noted for his marriage to 'Bess of Hardwick', probably the most astute business woman of the 16th century, who owned the vast Chatsworth estates.

Bolsover Castle was sold on to Charles Cavendish in 1608, who employing Robert Smythson as his architect, set about re-building the castle. which, despite its embattled appearance, was designed for elegant living rather than for defence. The tower, known today as the little castle, was completed around 1621, and building work continued with their sons adding the terrace and riding school ranges. Used as extra accommodation, the Terrace Range originally consisted of apartments and kitchens, but with a Royal visit imminent this range was extended to include a long gallery and an external staircase. At completion, the school had every facility required, including a forge, a tack and harness room, a large arena, and an upper viewing gallery. One of the most notable features of the Riding School range is its magnificent timber roof.

Despite Bolsover Castle falling into a ruinous state during the Civil War, William Cavendish added a new hall and staterooms to the Terrace Range and, by the time of his death in 1676, the castle had been restored to good order. His successors, however, chose to live at Welbeck Abbey and in 1752 they stripped the lead from the roof of the Terrace Range at Bolsover Castle to effect the necessary repairs to their preferred residence. The Little Castle and the Riding School Range survived much better, and was let to the Curate of Bolsover in 1834. Following the death of his widow in 1883, the castle remained uninhabited and was eventually given to the nation by the 7th Duke of Portland in 1945. The castle is now in the care of English Heritage.

The symbolic and erotic wall-paintings in the Little Castle, some of which were restored in the 1970s, have been conserved, and exciting discoveries have been made of original painted decoration beneath later work. The castle battlements and the Venus Garden have been restored, and the fountain, with 23 new statues, plays again for the first time in centuries. The riding centre stables have been developed as a new Discovery Centre and new site interpretation facilities have been introduced.

The castle regularly hosts historic and cultural events throughout the year and the site is ideal for family picnics.

song words that mean so much
Jan 07, 2007 | 1:51PM

i dont need to say anything more than what can be found below this is one of the most lovely ballad  words that has meaning for  me i hope youll agree.

Looking in your eyes i see a paradise
This world that i've found
Is too good to be true
Standing here beside you
Want so much to give you
This love in my heart that i'm feeling for you

Let 'em say we're crazy, i don't care about that
Put your hand in my hand baby
Don't ever look back
Let the world around us just fall apart
Baby we can make it if we're heart to heart

Chorus:
And we can build this dream together
Standing strong forever
Nothing's gonna stop us now
And if this world runs out of lovers
We'll still have each other
Nothing's gonna stop us, nothing's gonna stop us now

I'm so glad i found you
I'm not gonna lose you
Whatever it takes i will stay here with you
Take it to the good times
See it through the bad times
Whatever it takes is what i'm gonna do

Let 'em say we're crazy, what do they know
Put your arms around me baby

faith of the heart
Jan 05, 2007 | 10:38AM

these are the  words to a fitting song --    "enterprise theme" called faith of the heart !

im sure we all could do with some faith  and if we search hard enough it wont be long before we find it -- this is for a special friend who will  read it i can be sure  and i want to say thank you -- from a tiny seed do great things happen.

remember its not the words you say, but the way you use them that counts!

It's been a long road
To get from there to here
It's been a long time
But my time is finally here
And I can feel the change in the wind right now
Nothings in my way
And their not going to hold me down no more
No their not going to hold me down

'Cos I've got faith of the heart
I'm going where my heart will take me
I've got faith to believe
I can do anything
I've got strength of the soul
And no ones going to bend or break me
I can reach any star
I've got faith
I've got faith
Faith of the heart

It's been a long night
Trying to find my way
Then through the darkness
Now I've finally had my day
And I will see my dream come alive at last
I will touch the sky
And their not going to hold me down no more
No their not going to change my mind

'Cos I've got faith of the heart
I'm going where my heart will take me
I've got faith to believe
I can do anything
I've got strength of the soul
And no ones going to bend or break me
I can reach any star
I've got faith
Faith of the heart

I'm going to whistle cold
I've seen the darkest days
But now the winds I feel
Are only winds of change
I've been through the fire
I've been through the rains
But I've been fine

'Cos I've got faith of the heart
I'm going where my heart will take me
I've got faith to believe
I can do anything
I've got strength of the soul
And no ones going to bend or break me
I can reach any star
I've got faith
Faith of the ...

Faith of the heart
I'm going where my heart will take me
I've got faith to believe
I can do anything
I've got strength of the soul
And no ones going to bend or break me
I can reach any star
'Cos I've got faith
'Cos i've got faith
Faith of the heart

It's been a long road

thank you

trust and friendship
Jan 02, 2007 | 2:33AM

if you read my blog on "through the barricades" how many of us are in the same situation?.

we all come from different walks of life and different cultures yet on here we can talk to people from around the world and gain trust and knowledge from each other, also friendship and love.

i have been on grab for 9 months now and the more i put into my blog the more people will know about me  and what happends around me. everyone should do the same!

however the communication does not have to be direct on a one to one basis , i have pictures and blogs to show you that ,and many a "grab person" has become a friend  to know more about me and we have played in countless tourneys and games,it all helps to bring down those barricades and make people who dont know each other to get on well.

have a good year in 2007 on grab everyone and may we continue to make more friends from around the world.

through the barricades 2007
Dec 31, 2006 | 3:16AM

this song can be unique in the words that it portrays, through the barricades was wrote when the band(spandau ballet)were performing in belfast  northern ireland back in the early 1980,s.

its about the daily struggles that both sides had to endure hence the words "through the barricades" tony hadley{lead singer} is a man of many talents   and has his own solo career now.

this song is in my top 5 of all time simply for the message it gives you and for the fact that so many other people have gone through what  it portrays.

the words below are dedicated to a friend of mine and i hope that in 2007 we can all break through the baracades that people put up and live in peace and hope.

david

through the barricades

Mother doesn’t know where love has gone,

She says it must be youth that keeps us felling strong.

See it in her face that’s turned to ice,

And when she smiles she shows the lines of sacrifice.

And now I know what they’re saying as our sun begins to fade,

And we made our love on wasteland and through the barricades.

Father made my history,

He fought for what he thought would set us somehow free.

They taught me what to say in school,

I learned it off by heart but now that’s torn in two.

And now I know what they’re saying in the music of the parade,

And we made our love on wasteland and through the barricades.

Born on different sides of life,

But we feel the same and feel all of this strife,

So come to me when I’m asleep

And we’ll cross the line and dance upon the streets.

And now I know what they’re saying as the drums begin to fade,

And we made our love on wasteland and through the barricades.

Oh, turn around and I’ll be there,

Well there’s a scar right through my heart but I’ll bare it again.

Oh, I thought we were the human race but we were just another borderline case,

And the stars reach down and tell us that there’s always one escape.

Oh, I don’t know were love has gone

And in this troubled land desperation keeps us strong.

Friday’s child is full of soul,

With nothing left to lose there’s everything to go.

And now I know what they’re saying,

It’s a terrible beauty we’ve made

So we make our love on wasteland and through the barricades

And now I know what they’re saying as our hearts go to their graves

And we made our love on wasteland and through the barricades.

forever autumn

okay here are the words to my poem made
down the park where i live and i have some  pics as well on the site

forever autumn nov 2005

as i walk alone without a sound
and leaves around me on the ground
all around is peace and calm
but this journey has only just begun

the trees are swaying in the breeze
calling me to feel their needs
their leaves fall softly on the ground
that i can see without a sound

for this is my forever autumn
and time stands still with all those thoughts
time passes by so very slowly
i have a long journey yet to go

the hills and paths are quiet now
no one around not even a sound
inside my head the thoughts run wild
and you my dear by my side

within the dreams that hold us close
to you i give a lasting rose
at last the journey end is near
and still calm and peace i can hear

one day for sure i will be there
forever autumn dont dispair
