Potpourri....:)
Nov 07, 2009 | 11:47AM

Two young boys walked into a pharmacy one day, picked out a box of tampons and proceeded to the checkout counter.

The man at the counter asked the older boy, "Son, how old are you?" "Eight," the boy replied. The man continued, "Do you know what these are used for?"

The boy replied, "Not exactly, but they aren't for me. They're for him. He's my brother. He's four. We saw on TV that if you use these, you would be able to swim, play tennis and ride a bike. Right now, he can't do none of those."

Taking his seat in his chambers, the judge faced the opposing lawyers.
“So,” he said, “I have been presented, by both of you, with a bribe.”
Both lawyers squirmed uncomfortably.
“You, attorney Leon, gave me $15,000.
And you, attorney Campos, gave me $10,000.”
The judge reached into his pocket and pulled out a check.
He handed it to Leon.
“Now then, I’m returning $5,000,
and we're going to decide this case soley on it's merit...

Wandering Love....:)

Song of the Wandering Aengus

I went out to the hazel wood,
Because a fire was in my head,
And cut and peeled a hazel wand,
And hooked a berry to a thread;

And when white moths were on the wing,
And moth-like stars were flickering out,
I dropped the berry in a stream
And caught a little silver trout.

When I had laid it on the floor
I went to blow the fire a-flame,
But something rustled on the floor,
And some one called me by my name:
It had become a glimmering girl
With apple blossom in her hair
Who called me by my name and ran
And faded through the brightening air.

Though I am old with wandering
Through hollow lands and hilly lands,
I will find out where she has gone,
And kiss her lips and take her hands;
And walk among long dappled grass,
And pluck till time and times are done
The silver apples of the moon,
The golden apples of the sun.

William Butler Yeats

Also known as "Angus the young", he was considered the Irish god of love. He was a young handsome god that had four birds flying about his head -- some say they symbolize kisses -- who inspired love in all who heard them.

Faith In This Day
Nov 07, 2009 | 10:22AM

I have faith in the morning sun that

beckons the day and writes over the moon

Photobucket

I have faith in a luminous beginning that harmonizes

with the night before and gives to the

weather it''s infinite possibilities.

Photobucket PhotobucketPhotobucket  Photobucket Photobucket

I have faith in the quiet breeze that sways past

my window stringing leaves from the trees

In a bond of hope that crowns my dreams.

There is now more of this than there

ever was before

There is also wonder and trust and great delight

as I see the mountain give shelter to the valley's

shadow  and my fear goes back into slumber

Freud ...

The great question...

which I have not been able to answer...

 is, "What... does a woman want?"

Agatha Christie

An archeologist is the best husband any woman can have;

the older she gets, the more interested he is in her.

Give a man a free man a free hand and he'll run it all over you."

I Agree :)
Nov 07, 2009 | 10:00AM

As we let
our light shine,
we unconsciously give
other people permission
to do the same.
As we are liberated
from our own fear,
our presence actually
liberates others.

Good Night Animated GIF Comments | GraphicsGrotto.com

I ask you Lord to give me faith,
and put my feet on solid ground.
I know that I’m a Christian,
and I am heaven bound.

I want to put my faith in you,
For that I’ll need your help.
Nothing I can do alone,
I’m worthless by myself.

There are some things that’s hard to do,
unless I’m sure you’re there.
I ask you Lord to give me faith,
I’ll make this now my prayer.

The Knowing
Nov 06, 2009 | 12:47PM

Let your mind open to endless possibilities
angels whisper freedom from all demands.

Let your heart set creativity in motion
as decades of dreams soar cross time and eternity.

The knowledge of this world is a diaphanous veil
that obscures mankind's torment of knowing.

We stand before the veil with anticipation
humbly hoping to understand our own soul.

Heavenly ushas of luminous ether
bathe us in liquid essence of bliss.

Communicating
Peace
Compassion
Forgiveness.

And we realize the knowing...

Our beliefs, Our love, Our Heartfelt emotions
hold the secrets to change the course of our own destiny.

For the sacred power of God
will always dwell within Our Heart.

The Great Depression...Not So Great...
Nov 06, 2009 | 9:58AM

picture not original to text

Sometimes the season changed in the telling,
sometimes the state, but it was always during

the Depression, and he was alone in the boxcar,
the train stalled beneath a sky wider

than any he'd seen so far, the fields of grass
wider than the sky. He'd been curious

to see if things were as bad somewhere else
as they were at home. They were -- and worse,

he said, places with no trees, no water.
He hadn't eaten all day, all week, his hunger

hard-fixed, doubled, gleaming as the rails. A lone
house broke the sharp horizon, the train dreaming

beneath him, so he climbed down, walked out,
the grass parting at his knees. The windows

were open, curtainless, and the screendoor,
unlatched, moved to open, too, when he knocked.

He could see in all the way through to the kitchen--
and he smelled before he saw the lidded

pot on the stove, the steam escaping. Her clothes
moved on the line for all reply, the sheets,

a slip, one dress, washed thin, worn to translucence;
through it he could see what he mistook for fields

of roses until a crow flew in with the wind--
sudden, fleeting seam. By the time he got back to the train,

he'd guessed already what he'd taken -- pot
and all -- a hen, an old one that had quit

laying, he was sure, or she wouldn't have killed it.
The train began to move then, her house falling

away from him. The story ended with the meat
not quite done, but, believe him, he ate it

all, white and dark, back, breast, legs, and thighs,
strewing the still-warm bones behind him for miles.

Claudia Emerson

The Song of the Hobo

Robert T. Duncan (1919)

I'm sick of it, boys, with its din and noise,
It ain't just the place for me;
The city's all right for a single night
If you make it a downright spree.

But to make it a home when one's free to roam
By river, and forest, and lake;
Let him do it who can, but it ain't for the man
Who lives for living's sake.

The town is for him whose eyes will grow dim
O'er the ledger's crowded lines;
He can never dream of the spell of a stream,
Or the campfire 'neath the pines.

Yes! the prarie is the place for me
With its trackless miles and miles;
Where I'll draw my breath without fear of death
From the crazy automobiles.

Then farewell the lights and welcome the nights
With the vastness and silence and stars;
And my heart will not yearn for the money they earn,
Who work behind city bars.

Did You KNOW ???? OUCH !!!
Nov 06, 2009 | 8:51AM

It’s a little known, but interesting, fact that  Moses Noss was at one time married to the sister of famed sharp-shooter Annie Oakley.

The sister, Carrie, was quite famous in her day as a vocalist. She appeared in dance hall and saloons all across the West serenading the cliental with favored tunes of the day.

Although she passed away many years ago, she’s probably more famous today than she was in the 1880s. Countless drinking establishments around the world are dedicated to her memory.

Don’t believe me?

Well who hasn’t heard of Carrie Oakley bars?
