Cross Eyed Joe's Revenge....

Cattle Dog's revenge

Now it ain't that I don't like dogs
I've got a few ya know
But these day I ain't too impressed
With bloody cross eyed Joe

Now he was the runt of the litter
Was he a pathetic little sight
But golly when it was feeding time
He'd put up such a fight

He'd stretch that mother's teat
Like it was flamin take away
Guzzling like a flamin pig
He'd be at it all damn day

I guess he was making up
For the undersize he be
But flamin hell at three months old
He towered over me

Now the time had come to say goodbye
We were giving pups away
He was costing us a fortune mate
Two pounds of beef a day

So into the truck we loaded him
With some other dogs we bred
When we started up to go
He went off his ruddy head

Over the flamin side he went
And off into the scrub
At least he was flamin gone
Hubba hubba hub

But just a few months later
As I was bent to milk old Belle
Seven pups crept up and bit
Be gawd it was damn hell

I raised me eyes in pain
And into bush I looked within
There stood all seven of them
With Joe's damn evil grin!

We used to have a cattle dog called Bob. Let's just say that he had a lot in common with Joe. The day we got him we stopped near a paddock and he jumped outta the car and ate {{wet}} cow dung, was also known as he got older to enjoy cleaning up after Mick had a big night and had a spew out the backyard, ummm yuk! was also known to let anyone into the yard but bail them up against the fence when they wanted to leave .. bit one of Mick's mates EVERYTIME he saw him, lol ~ he was a good judge of character.. he was faithful, loyal hehehehe used to growl at ya as you fed him. When we took him to the beach Mick would go for a surf and Bob would be on the beach {{humping}} his towel. Mick got pulled over onetime for not wearing a seatbelt and when the policeman went to get his license off him, yeah you got it right ~ Bob snapped his hand... hmmmmmmmmm ~ thanks for the trip down memory lane ~~ sadly our yard is too small for a cattle dog nowadays and we have Clyde and Banj our staffies BUT I would love another one oneday when the kids are old enough to defend themselves, lol.

*hugs* ~Deb~

I love the poem and Deb`s comments. When we were on the farm our dog was the same in that he allowed anyone in but woe betide if you wanted to leave again! Not Nelson he not only lets everyone in but tells them where I am! Hugs Jill and His Lordship
